British Paras, BEF JoP's and a building

Today an a little diverse diverse mix as I'm trying to tie up some loose ends before the 10th Annual Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge starts in a matter of days.
Work-life balance is a little difficult at the moment as I've only just started a new job and thus am constantly away from home for the foreseeable future. So there's precious little hobby time to be had.
Be that as it may, I've actually managed to paint up a few things.

Let's start with a demi-squad of British Paras:

TooFatLardies are about to release an Operation Market Garden supplement for Chain of Command some time soon, so these chaps will come in handy at some point. Figures are from the venerable Foundry range and were a joy to paint. These are Perry sculpts from back in the day when they still knew how to sculpt figures you actually enjoy to paint...
Albeit a little more heroic they scale well with the old Warlord Games metal Paras sculpted by Paul Hicks.

Next is something I've been neglecting for far too long. Jump Off Points for my BEF:

And last but not least I have my brothers FDM-printer on loan, so set about printing me a hand full of buildings. The first one I actually painted up already:

You can still see some minor striations but for a terrain piece I'm actually quite happy with how it turned out. There are a few more sitting on the painting table, so I actually might paint them over the course of the challenge.

So, that's it for today. Thanks for stopping by and have a nice week!

  1. That is some cracking work Nick! Maybe I should get some British para's as yours look so darn good! Those Jop's and house will really come in handy on the tabletop. Looking forward to our next game whenever you get a chance.

  3. Lovely work Nick :)

Does the building have a playable interior?

  5. Very fine work Sir. Have to agree that the old Perry sculpts are a lot more pleasurable to paint, I find the new ones much too angular and the detail a tad sparse at times, they are nice though.

  6. Now that's the best and most realistic JOPs I have seen yet, excellent work Nick, as are your building and Paras.

  11. Those paras are superb (and I agree about the Perrys, their Foundry and GW days are where they did all their best work)--the JOPs are superb also and the house is very nice too, you could perhaps put some filler over the rendered walls to cover up the striations a bit?

  12. Lovely work as always. Love the JoPs, even though they have no figures they are like dioramas each with a little story to tell.

  16. Good luck in your new job. What little time you did spent on the hobby was spent well as the minis and building looks fantastic.
