Back to late antiquity

I haven't painted anything for my Late Romans in a while and, truth be told, even todays offerings were finished quite some time back in 2017. But I've finally got in gear and took some photos.

First off my new mounted Warlord/ Tribune. Figures are Westwind Miniatures with heads taken from Wargames Foundry. Westwind do some very characterful figures, which fit nicely with Footsore and Gripping Beast, but some of the heads can be a little hit and miss unfortunately.

Next are some mounted Hearthguard/ Warriors by Footsore Miniatures. I've already painted a few of these and they're still amongst my favourites. The oval shields are decals from LBM, while the small round shield and the standard were hand painted.

Some more Warriors, but this time on foot. Most are Footsore again, while one is Westwind.

And last but not least a unit of archers. These are from the wonderful Wargames Foundry range of late Romans and, as always, were a real blast to paint. As they're a tad smaller than their Footsore brethren I mounted them on slightly higher bases. When placed directly next to each other the difference is still quite visible though. A shame the range is, and probably will be, quite limited pose wise. At least compared to modern standards.

That's it for today. Have a nice week and hopefully till next time!

  7. Excellent work on them all. They all turned out rather marvellous. I am sure when out on the battlefield it won't be noticeable at all.

  13. Superb painting as always Nick and the painted spears/javelins rather than wood really makes them stand out.

  14. Stunning as always. Colors are vibrant, but not overly done.
